Within the framework of the individual program, measures are provided for the improvement of the archaeological complex "Belomorskiye petroglyphs". In total, 57 million rubles were allocated for these purposes for 2021-2022, 11.8 million rubles of which have already been disbursed in 2021. The remaining 45.2 million rubles will be spent in 2022, the press service of the Ministry of Economic Development reports.

Last year, the development of project documentation for the construction of a pedestrian road and the renovation of the entrance area of the Zalavruga tract was completed. Construction will start soon.

It also provides for the construction of a visitor center for the White Sea Petroglyphs Museum — project documentation for this facility is undergoing state expertise.

About 20-30 thousand tourists visit the petroglyphs of the White Sea every year, but the government believes that the tourist flow can be increased several times.

“This object can become the flagship of Karelian tourism, like Kizhi, Ruskeala and Valaam. There is every reason for this,” notes Dmitry Rodionov, Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of Karelia for Economic Affairs.
